Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based treatment for trauma. If you are living with PTSD, complex PTSD, or the aftershocks of painful events, EMDR can help your nervous system process these experiences so that they no longer overwhelm your present life. It allows you to move forward with greater calm, resilience, and clarity.

Online EMDR Therapy for Complex Trauma, Available Worldwide

I am an accredited EMDR Therapist in Sheffield, and I offer specialist trauma healing to clients both locally in South Yorkshire and securely online worldwide. This allows for consistent and confidential treatment, regardless of your location. We use EMDR to treat the root causes of anxiety, persistent low self-esteem, deep-seated emotional pain, and relationship issues.

How Does EMDR Work to Heal Trauma?

When a traumatic event occurs, the memory and its associated emotions, sounds, and body sensations can get “stuck” in the brain’s limbic system, leading to hyper-vigilance and emotional flashbacks. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation—often through eye movements, tones, or tapping—to activate both sides of the brain. This process mimics what happens naturally during REM sleep and helps the brain move the unprocessed memory from the emotional brain to the pre-frontal cortex (the rational brain).

This movement allows the trauma to be stored as a normal, narrative memory, freeing your nervous system from the constant threat response. We don’t change the memory, but we change your response to it, reducing its emotional charge to zero.

My Integrated Approach to EMDR

Healing is not always quick or simple, but it is possible. As an experienced EMDR Consultant, I specialise in working with complex trauma (C-PTSD) and childhood issues, which require a grounded and relational approach. For some clients working with complex traumatic material, I may suggest longer EMDR sessions, usually 75 minutes in length, to allow for adequate processing time and ensure your nervous system has time to settle before the session ends.

My approach integrates the established EMDR protocol with Gestalt Psychotherapy and somatic practices. This means we are not just talking about your past; we are grounding your present experience, allowing you to access and resolve those blocked mental, emotional, and spiritual energies. You are met with deep compassion and a highly skilled, customised approach.

Fees

EMDR therapy is available at £70 per 50-minute session (in-person or remote). Jennifer may suggest longer EMDR sessions (usually 75 minutes in length) for some clients working with complex traumatic material to allow for adequate processing time.
